Time Flies

It seems just yesterday it was Opening Day of the Ohio State Fair and then you realize this year’s Fair is over. I think I speak for everyone when I say that this year’s Fair was, once again, a huge success.

Throughout the Fair I saw endless smiles from fairgoers and management. I spoke of blessings before and this year was yet another time when we all could come together and experience an event that brings happiness to everybody involved.

I can’t wait for next year!

Fairgoers are saving a lot of green by taking advantage of great deals such as Family Value Day and the upcoming Coke Final Fair Day ($3 admission until 3 p.m. with Coke product). The new online coupon program (link) has also been a favorite for fairgoers, providing big savings off everyone's favorite Fair foods.

In addition to saving green, fairgoers have also been going green. Through Friday morning, more than 53 tons had been recycled through the fairgoers use of the recycling containers throughout the grounds. Thank you, fairgoers!

Numerous vendors also help with the Fair's recycling efforts by using recyclable and biodegradable service ware, composting food waste and recycling used frying oil. Even the butter from the butter cow will be recycled after the Fair by being broken down into biodiesel, a cleaner alternative to gasoline!

Whether you're going green or saving some green, the Fair is the place to do both!

So let’s be honest with each other. I didn’t really understand all the hype about the Sale of Champions; that is until yesterday.

I envisioned this big zoo-like meeting of animals with one judge and a whole ‘lotta cash. I discovered after talking to the exhibitors it’s a lot bigger than that. For some it’s a life-long dream and for others it’s an annual event.

Either way I have to admit I’m excited to see it all play out tomorrow!

l The Entertainer

Really excited to see how the hog and steer shows pan out today at the Fair. We have half of the field set (lambs and chickens) for tomorrow’s Sale of Champions and things are beginning to heat up!

Come out to the Fair today and check out all the action at the market steer show (Voinovich Livestock and Trade Center) and at the market hog show (O’Neill Swine Barn).

Let’s see…. Today I met Elsie the Cow, rode the Giant Slide, got to pet a horse that’s twice my height and at least 10 times my size, saw some sweet bike stunts and learned some magic.

Pretty successful day in my book.

I love this place.

I Love Foreigner

I had the opportunity to see Foreigner here at the Fair last night and it was amazing! I have always been a big Foreigner fan, and their show was impressive! It’s safe to say they still have it!

They rocked it and proved once again that they are “as cold as ice.” If you ever get a chance to see them live, do it. I’ll be rockin’ to Foreigner non-step for the next couple of months.
